Thaksin Shinawatra Appears in Ratchada Criminal Court for Lèse-Majesté Case; Evades Media

Former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra arrived at the Ratchada Criminal Court today for the first prosecution witness examination in the lèse-majesty case, Black Case No. A.1860/2567. Public prosecutors from Criminal Cases Division 8 filed the lawsuit against Mr. Thaksin Shinawatra as the defendant for alleged offenses under Article 112 of the Criminal Code (lèse-majesty) and the Computer Crime Act B.E. 2550. (July 1, 2025) However, Mr. Thaksin did not appear before the media who were waiting at the front entrance stairs of the Criminal Court. Only his private car was seen pulling up to the front of the court, and officials informed that Mr. Thaksin had already entered the court building through another entrance. Mr. Somchai Wongsawat, former Prime Minister, and Mr. Winyat Chartmontree, his lawyer, gave interviews to the media before entering to observe the witness examination.
